When finishing university, I started working as an Au pair. I wanted
to travel the world, but the honest reason would be that I was one
module short of my science degree, but with no desire to work in the
particular field.
While au pairing I learned to be organised and to be patient with
the people around me. Working in three different countries for five
different families taught me to adjust to a different environment
and work with a diversity of personalities.
While in lockdown I started looking for field that I could work in.
My requirements were that I should be passionate about, I would like
to work remotely at some point and ideally I want to be my own boss.
I found coding and it ticked all the boxes. I started a course
straight away and I was hooked.
I learned HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap and React.js. A few
months later I moved to Porto, Portugal for a customer service job.
Here I learned how the corporate world works, how to work with
productivity and quality targets and to be part of a team. In my
free time I started yet another coding course. After the course I
keep on practising my newly aquired skill and building a portofolio.
I hope to find a job in developing in the coming year
